The F.C.D.N. stands for "Fatal Catastrophy Demolishing Noise" or is it "Fuckin' Catastrophic Destructive Noise" ?

These guys were into the black metal vibe before Emperor knew how to put on their makeup. This band played from the mid-80s clean through to the 90s. The drummer, Ralo, went on to play in No Comment. This one is so awesome that words escape me. It sort of reminds me of Testament's "The Legacy" mixed with a shot of speed.

Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (also known as D.R.I.) are a crossover thrash band that formed in 1982.

The band never gained any mainstream audience, but were an influence on their contemporaries — most notably Suicidal Tendencies, Corrosion of Conformity, and S.O.D. — alongside whom they are considered the early pioneers of the sound that would later be called crossover thrash. This genre was also coined from their 1987 album Crossover.

Although the band is still active today, the only new material D.R.I. have released since their 1995 album, Full Speed Ahead, was a web-only demo release of the track "Against Me" in 2004.

Morbid Angel is an American death metal band based in Tampa, Florida. They, along with Death, Possessed, Obituary, Massacre, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and a handful of others were crucial in the development of the death metal genre and its standards, separating it from the thrash metal genre completely. UK music magazine Terrorizer ranked two Morbid Angel albums in its "Top 40 Greatest Death Metal Albums," with Altars of Madness appearing at number 1.

Decibel Magazine also rated guitarist Trey Azagthoth as the number 1 "Death Metal Guitarist Ever". The band's songs are complex in arrangement, owing to the considerable technical skills of both Azagthoth and drummer Pete Sandoval (who also played in the grindcore/death metal band Terrorizer). According to Nielsen SoundScan, Morbid Angel is the third best-selling death metal band in the United States with sales over 445,147 in the United States alone and releasing the best-selling death metal album in the United States of all time, Covenant, with sales over 127,154.

This is a pre-Sandoval set, but still pretty intense !

Possessed is an American death metal band San Francisco, California, originally formed in 1983. Noted for their fast style of playing and Becerra's guttural vocals, they have been cited as a great influence on the death metal genre. In fact, the band's influence on the genre is so great, they are sometimes called the "godfathers" of the death metal genre and are often considered the first death metal group, with the name of the genre possibly coming from their first demo entitled Death Metal.

After breaking up in 1987, and briefly reforming in 1993, the band reformed under original bassist/vocalist Jeff Becerra in 2007.

Hirax is an American thrash metal band from Cypress, California. Starting in 1984 under the leadership of vocalist Katon W. De Pena (their most distinctive character and the band's only original member part of the current line-up), the band played in Los Angeles and San Francisco with the other new thrash metal bands of the area such as Metallica, Exodus, and Slayer. The band was a clear example of the thrash/speed metal/crossover genre.

This set seems to feature Paul Baloff on vocals (for sure it's NOT Katon), but in the middle of the set Katon seems to be back ... pretty strange ??

Excel is a now-defunct punk/metal fusion band from Venice, California. The band formed in 1983 under the name Chaotic Noise. After or when former drummer Evan Warech left the band, they changed their name to Excel in 1985. In 1995 they went on to more of a stoner metal sound on their last album Seeking Refuge.

Some members of the band were close friends with Suicidal Tendencies, who are from the same hometown as Excel. Guitarist Adam Siegel and drummer Greg Saenz (now in The Dwarves) contributed to singer Mike Muir's projects Cyco Miko and Infectious Grooves.

Excel released two albums, Split Image (1987) and The Joke's on You (1989), before Siegel joined the ranks with Infectious Grooves in 1990. In 1992 Siegel and Saenz left Excel to form power-trio My Head. After five years of silence, Excel returned to record their third and final album, Seeking Refuge (1995), and then broke up for good.

In 2003, ex-members of Excel considered legal action against the famous heavy metal band Metallica over the song "Enter Sandman", which they claim borrows heavily from the Excel's song "Tapping Into The Emotional Void", originally included on "The Joke's On You" LP, released in 1989, two years before the release of Metallica's Black Album.

This SB recording is pretty excellent quality, and was also videotaped.
